Shveta Maini Biography

Shveta Maini is an abstract artist raised in India and currently located in Hertfordshire. Her work is deeply inspired by the electric tapestry of experiences, traditions and landscapes that have shaped her life. Shveta’s artwork captures the essence of emotions, energy and the natural world through texture, colour, and shape. Each painting is a reflection of Shveta’s intuitive process, guided by her emotions and influenced by the vibrant environment around her.

Shveta Maini graduated from the University of Arts London with a degree in Surface Textiles, however fell in love with abstract art and became a self-taught artist.  Abstract art is Shveta Maini’s preferred genre of art, due to its capacity for unrestricted expression and interpretation. Shveta is particularly drawn to this genre because of its ability to evoke emotions and spark imagination, free from the confines of representational imagery. Shveta Maini uses abstract art as a form of self-expression and a means of communicating emotions and ideas that transcend language and cultural barriers.

“My creative process is deeply intuitive and spontaneous. I typically begin by immersing myself in the moment or then delving into something that has been on my mind, allowing my emotions and surroundings to guide me. Sometimes, I start with a particular colour palette or texture in mind, while other times, I simply let the brush flow freely on the canvas.

I don't usually envisage the final outcome from the start; instead, the process unfolds as a journey of exploration and discovery. Each brushstroke informs the next, building layers of texture and colour that gradually form into a cohesive composition. It's a dynamic and fluid process where I continuously respond to the canvas, letting the painting evolve organically.

As I work, I engage deeply with the materials, experimenting with different techniques and gestures to create visual interest and depth. I may add and subtract elements, blend colours, or introduce unexpected textures, allowing the painting to take on a life of its own.

Ultimately, my goal is to capture the essence of emotion and energy in each piece, inviting viewers to connect with the artwork on a visceral level and interpret it in their own unique way.” – Shveta Maini.
