Jump into the great outdoors through Art……

Turner Art Perspective Gallery in Shenfield is changing their style for the month of June. We have curated an exhibition of Abstract Landscape and Abstract works, quite a difference to the normal pop art and street art feel. To embrace Summer in the gallery we are celebrating colour and nature with a collection of our existing artists and bringing some exciting new artists into the mix.

“I love the conversations that this type of art can initiate, after the comment of “I could do that”!!! It never ceases to amaze me how differently people see abstract works. Some people can see animals, rock formations, cities, it really surprises me how peoples’ minds work. But it also confirms that an abstract painting really does speak to people on an individual level.” -Soo Turner, art consultant.

About the works

The artists we have curated focus on shapes, colours and textures in a somewhat simplified angle depicting nature in some form or another. These are a more decorative view igniting memories and thoughts of a place rather than an accurate depiction that is almost a photographic image of a particular place. These styles of painting use mark making to achieve the effect. Abstract Landscape works can stir up feelings of a certain place or time or a special moment with someone. Although the artists may have somewhere in mind at the time of painting the pieces, it is left up to the individual to come to their own conclusion of where they are transported to. Abstract artists are extremely clever, they are painting from their mind, something that does not exist in the real world, it is their interpretation and yet there is always a powerful message to the viewer.

About the artists

Albert Froling

Albert Froling (1982-) is a Dutch artist who work focuses on the movement of abstract expressionism. He is inspired by 60’s jazz music as well as his Father’s paintings. Albert has exhibited his work in Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, and France. He has participated in many group exhibitions as well as solo shows of just his work. Abstract art has allowed Albert to express and discover himself as an artist and to also feel closer to his father who was also a very passionate painter.

Beatriz Elorza

After working as an architect, Elorza began to study art in 2006 in Madrid, receiving instruction for five years from Leticia Ortiz de Urbina. She continued her training at New York's Art Students League, from 2011 to 2013, where she studied under Frank O'Cain, Bruce Dorfman and Charles Hinman. Beatriz work has been exhibited in Spain, Russia, London, Tokyo and New York. She had been part of the Summer Exhibition 2016 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and can be found in the permanent collection of the Tsvetaev Museum in Moscow.

Charlotte Cornish

Charlotte Cornish was born in Cambridge in 1967. She studied Printmaking at the University of Brighton (1986–1990) and went on to study Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, London in 1992. She now lives and works in East Anglia. Charlotte's paintings and prints all have figurative starting points. She has always found inspiration from places she has visited, and she often uses photographs as an initial starting point for her compositions. Yet, her paintings are not representations of places, but are a mixture of elements from the seen world, and her own emotional responses and experience.

Kerr Ashmore

Kerr Ashmore is a British contemporary landscape and abstract artist. Inspired by land, sea and sky, her works are reflections of nature, memory, and emotion. Kerr's work is beautifully aesthetic, often large in scale, and always emotionally powerful. Kerr grew up in North Yorkshire. Her atmospheric landscapes are the result of the reflections of nature, memory and emotion inspired by the surrounding beauty of the dramatic and ever-changing movement of light and dark that can so drastically change the natural landscape.

Lynne Timmington

Lynne Timmington’s powerfully expressive contemporary seascapes draw their inspiration from the natural world, specifically the vastness of the oceans and skies, the forces of nature, and the effects of light on all of these elements. Over a 30-year career Lynne has become one of Britain’s most respected land and seascape painters, and her subtle shades and distinctive textures have led to a highly recognisable style which has won her both critical and popular acclaim.

Marcus Aitken

Marcus is a contemporary artist living and working in South London. Known for his gestural paintings, Marcus uses a combination of layering, distressing, and blending to present a multifaceted surface to his work. His background in design has developed his artistic style creating cutting-edge abstract works. In Marcus’ most recent works he has collaborated with clothing fashion labels like, ‘Pringle of Scotland,’ and the men’s clothing line, ‘Farah.’ Where Marcus produced big commissions for the window fronts of the clothing label shops.

Mark Munroe-Preston

Mark Munroe Preston is an artist originally from Yorkshire. He studied photography at Wolverhampton Polytechnic before moving to London in 1991. Mark began to focus more on illustration and computer design, gradually moving away from photography. Since this Mark has worked in many sections of the design and publishing industry. Now Mark lives and works in Sussex, constantly gaining inspiration from the incredible landscapes surrounding him. Marks creates ‘Treescapes’, a landscape where the main focus is on trees.

Nancy Chambers

Nancy Chambers is a, mostly, self-taught artist who works with many galleries across the UK and Scotland. Nancy aims to capture an essence rather than a literal interpretation of each subject and is best known for her interpretive seascapes, landscapes, and abstract works. Nancy usually works with acrylic but with some collage and mixed media. A common thread in the subject matter of her work is her love for nature, inspired by trips around the coasts of England.

Sebastian Merk

Sebastian Merk lives and works in Germany and was born 1996 in Bad Homburg. Sebastian’s work is concerned primarily with the expression of intense emotion. Composing with an explosive use of colour, his dynamic abstract canvases are both contemplations on the idea of freedom and a fervent response to life’s stories and experiences. Sebastian works primarily in acrylic, acrylic-inks and blacklight UV-reactive paints, using palette knives, brushes, and his own hands. Switching between visible and UV light, his work reveals unseen worlds beyond the realm of everyday perception.
