"Museum III - is part of a series of works exploring ideas about what is displayed publicly and seen and what lies beneath the surface, private & hidden.
This piece was created during my time living in Chicago when I frequented the Art Institute there. It was inspired by the sculpted statues and heads isolated in glass cabinets.
Whilst staring and surveying these glazed exhibits, the faces, shadows and reflections of fellow visitors and onlookers appeared in view. All at once, I was aware of my own reflection superimposed on the statue together with the other faces moving in and out of focus. There was a moment when we were meeting each other’s gazes via our reflections - we all became part of the exhibit." - Corinna Button
