Meteorite Auric Field, Oumuamua is named for the first confirmed interstellar object ever observed passing through our solar system, and it takes the visitor as its subject. In Hawaiian, 'Oumuamua means a messenger from afar arriving first: a dense, elongated visitor that had wandered unattached through the Milky Way for hundreds of millions of years before encountering our star. Baker's work treats that arrival as an encounter between the cosmic and the personal, pairing it with the aura, the energetic bridge between our spiritual and physical body, the protective field that surrounds and embraces us. The result is a luminous form held in a white box tray frame: ink and hand-embellished diamond dust on fine art canvas, shot through with white neon. The sibling editions of this series, rendered without neon in black box trays, are described in deep purples and blues that evoke the vibrational frequencies of the auric field, symbolising harmony, cosmic connection and the quiet power of positive energy; here the neon's glow adds an emitter to that painted field, light standing within shimmer. The work symbolises our connection with the universe and the unmistakable aura of positive vibrations: the messenger from afar, and the field of light that welcomes it. White neon, ink and diamond dust on fine art canvas in a white box tray frame, measuring 104 x 104 x 12 cm, the deep tray letting the neon glow into its own shadowed edges.
