The Void explores the paradox of absence: what initially appears empty is charged with possibility. In white neon, glass, acrylic paint and mixed media, held in a white box tray frame, Baker builds a sculptural negative space that recalls the cosmic womb, the nothingness before creation, and the expansive terrain of dreams and consciousness. The work is a meditation on potential, gestation and transformation, and it stands as a portal: a threshold where inner balance, renewal and expanded consciousness may emerge. The diamond, or rhombus, form at the work's centre carries the symbolic weight. The rhombus is associated with portals, protection and expanded awareness, marking a point of alignment where inner harmony gives rise to clarity, renewal and collective good. Set against the void of the framed field, the glowing rhombus reads as form held inside formlessness, presence inside absence, the artist's recurring threshold made geometric. Where Threshold asks what crossing means, The Void asks what waits on either side: it is the stillness before the crossing, the held breath before the next beginning. Measuring 86 x 86 cm with a 12 cm deep box tray, the piece holds real sculptural presence on the wall, its depth casting the neon's glow into the frame's shadowed edges so the light appears to hover in darkness. A unique original artwork. £8,000.
