A rhombus-shaped artwork in vibrant colours with a hypnotic awareness. This piece is a result of Lauren Baker's fascination with geometric shapes and symbols and their ability to convey complex ideas and emotions. In its abstract simplicity, she is trying to convey the seconds just before the 'nothingness' state in meditation. The seconds where you travel into 'the zone'. The journey that takes you to 'the white light' and the purity of just being. Exploring geometry and aesthetics, Baker considers the intersection of form and meaning. Drawing upon a rich legacy of geometric abstraction, from the work of Kazimir Malevich to that of Ellsworth Kelly. Yet it also stands on its own as a statement for the quest of 'nothingness'. The radiant diamond of colour, turquoise dissolving through pink into a deep purple core against black, works as a meditation piece on the wall, drawing the eye inward the longer you look.
