Lauren Baker's Radiance Portal (Mini) is a compact edition of her hypnotic rhombus artwork: a luminous diamond of colour pulsing against deep black, its vibrant gradient pulling the eye inward toward stillness. This piece is a result of Baker's fascination with geometric shapes and symbols and their ability to convey complex ideas and emotions. In its abstract simplicity, she is trying to convey the seconds just before the 'nothingness' state in meditation. The seconds where you travel into 'the zone'. The journey that takes you to 'the white light' and the purity of just being. Exploring geometry and aesthetics, Baker considers the intersection of form and meaning, drawing upon a rich legacy of geometric abstraction, from the work of Kazimir Malevich to that of Ellsworth Kelly. Yet it also stands on its own as a statement for the quest of 'nothingness'.
