Artworks

A square-format artwork by British artist Lauren Baker from her Auric Field series. The canvas holds a quiet gradient of cool colour: a muted sage grey-green at the edges brightens inward through soft mint into a luminous ring of ice blue. At the centre sits a circular form of white crystalline facets, sharp, geometric planes like the cut faces of a gemstone or a shattered diamond, glinting where the light catches each edge. The concentric rings read as an energy field radiating from the crystal core, calm and cleansing, the cool palette drawing the eye inward toward the brightest point. The work is presented in a pale box tray frame. Lauren Baker | Auric Field - Aqua Mint (large)
A styled interior photograph showing Auric Field, Aqua Mint, the artwork by British artist Lauren Baker, hung in a white frame on a soft sage-green wall. The piece's concentric rings of aqua and mint glow gently around its white crystal centre, the gradient reading as calm, diffused light against the muted wall. Beneath it stands a mid-century walnut sideboard styled with two white ceramic vessels, with a slim white floor lamp to the right and warm wood flooring below. The shot shows how the work's cool, quiet palette settles into a natural, textural interior, its soft glow acting as a still point in the room rather than a bright accent. Lauren Baker | Auric Field - Aqua Mint (large) | On Wall
A styled interior photograph showing Auric Field, Aqua Mint, the artwork by British artist Lauren Baker, hung on a very dark navy wall with classic panelling. The piece's concentric rings of aqua, mint and blue glow softly around its white crystal centre, the brightest point in an otherwise deep-toned room. Below it, a teal velvet chesterfield sofa with pink and charcoal cushions sits on a shaggy grey rug, with a glass-topped side table holding a small globe lamp and a potted plant to the left, and a large banana-leaf plant filling the right of frame. The shot demonstrates the work in its nocturnal register: against dark walls the aura reads almost as a source of light, the cool blues deepening and the crystal centre floating like a moon over the sofa. Auric Field, Aqua Mint (large) belongs to Baker's Auric Field series, works made by listening to sound frequencies in a meditative state and painting the energy they generate, then hand-embellishing the canvas with diamond dust so the aura shimmers at the edge of seeing. The aura, she writes, is the electromagnetic energy field that is the bridge between our spiritual and physical body, and each colourway carries its own frequency. This one speaks in aquamarine and blue jade: the tones of aquamarine are associated in spiritual realms with cleansing energy, and, as with the waves of the ocean, with trusting and letting go; the shades of blue jade are represented as a talisman of peace, restoring equilibrium to the observer. The material carries the meaning. Diamond dust hand-applied across the fine canvas turns the painted aura into a field of light that shifts as the viewer moves, so the work behaves like the thing it depicts: an energy field, felt rather than fixed. At 100 x 100 cm, the large format gives the aura room to breathe, the gradient opening from its bright centre toward the frame's edges like light through water, a body of water rather than a talisman, scale giving the cleansing colours room to work on a whole wall. Ink with hand-embellished diamond dust on fine canvas, in a box tray frame. 100 x 100 cm unframed; 105.5 x 105.5 x 4 cm framed. Signed and numbered from an edition of 6, plus 1 artist's proof. £4,500.
