"In an increasingly urbanized world, most people live in very close proximity; usually too close for comfort. In order to maintain personal comfort other and to avoid aggression between individuals, cultures have devised varying personal spaces surrounding a person.
Public space, however, is used in a form of “time-share” to keep the peaceful coexistence of that many people; it is occupied – and briefly owned - by individuals and their surrounding personal space, and then immediately given up to be available for the occupation of another person.
In my photographs, I try to show that space – and also a photo – has a time component: multiple exposures of the same space, made over a few minutes up to half an hour, are combined to a collage in which the individual time layers – and also persons - penetrate each other." - Daniel Sambraus
