Tom Lewis

Tom Lewis is a British contemporary artist and illustrator known for narrative painting, mixed-media art, urban-inspired imagery and collectible limited-edition prints. Born in Birmingham in 1979 and based in London, Lewis creates playful yet profound artworks that explore storytelling, mythology, consciousness and the mechanics of meaning-making.

Tom Lewis’s paintings combine drawing, acrylic, aerosol, airbrush, collage, digital techniques and giclée printing. His layered artworks blend ancient myths, personal iconography, humour and surrealism, creating colourful compositions that invite viewers to complete each story themselves. His distinctive narrative approach makes his work a strong presence in contemporary British painting and urban art collecting.

Lewis’s imagery draws on Japanese woodblock prints, manga, anime and traditional Japanese motifs. Kimonos, dragons, flowers, lanterns, mythical creatures and imagined cityscapes combine with Western pop culture, urban art and digital processes. This fusion of Eastern and Western visual traditions gives his contemporary art a distinctive, collectible identity.

At the centre of Lewis’s practice is Megan, a recurring character embodying perpetual becoming, transformation and the power of narrative. After featuring on the BBC programme Junior Apprentice in 2010, his paintings and prints sold out at the Affordable Art Fair in London and New York, with exhibitions across London, New York, Miami, Hong Kong and Singapore. His recent work explores contemporary sacred art, mythology, morality and ideal ways of being.
