Art inspired by Jazz...

The main influences of Albert Froling's work is listening to Jazz music from the 40’s, 50’s and also modern jazz. This helps him to make the work because it takes him to the abstract expressionism movement, which you can see has a big influence on the paintings, combined with memories of Abert's youth. He developed a special interest in abstract expressionism. Mark Tobey, Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell and many more from that period were and still are a great inspiration.

"The only aspect I choose before I begin a painting is the base colour... The next step(s) arise spontaneously on that specific moment. An important aspect in my work is that I let my intuition and instinct do the job. After a painting session, it sometimes happens that I let a canvas rest for days or weeks before continuing... in this time observing how the painting develops, looking at what it needs without knowing and deciding what the next step will be. Intuition and instinct play an important role in the way I combine techniques, use of material and use of colour."
