The challenge of depicting the emotion of art through love…

Is art and love the perfect match in today’s world?
Mr. Controversial, British artist…
Mr Controversial is a thirty-three-year-old, London based artist who; transforms vintage imagery relegated to the past and brings it back to life with oil paint, silkscreen printing and relatable captions that tell comical, satirical, and sometimes dark stories. He plays with the concept of ‘The Familiar Surprise’. You’ve not seen this image before presented in this way, but it reminds you of something familiar. He creates Imagery that elicits an emotional response and triggers a nostalgic or cultural memory packaged in satirical, relatable captions and quotes.
“Each piece should be instantly relatable to the viewer, as if you have stumbled upon something that hits the nail on the head of your own everyday life, making the ordinary extraordinary & hilariously absurd.”
Mark Vessey, British photographer…
Mark Vessey is a British photographic artist whose work is inspired by the idea of creating art from collections of everyday objects. He spends his life searching for exclusive editions of books, albums, and magazines; and that one book that will make his collection complete. It takes inspiration from Vessey’s love of vintage magazines like The Face and Playboy, as well as groundbreaking contemporary titles like Attitude.
Individually, these publications are a snapshot in time. When put together in physical and photographic form these collections take on new meaning.
His work as a photographic artist has been featured in The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Creative Review amongst other publications.
Mark studied photography at Brighton University where he now lives. His experiences in the city inspired his first body of work, ‘When I’m Out’, which features a dreamlike vision of the bars, clubs and streets of gay culture throughout the world.
