A circular neon artwork by British artist Lauren Baker titled Do You Want To Change The World With Me? (Pink). The words of the question are bent in handwritten cursive script and arranged in a ring around the edge of the round panel, each word set along the circumference so the sentence is read by travelling around the circle: 'Do you want to change the world with me?' The white-hot tubes glow pink at their cores and flood the entire panel with rose light, brightest at the lettering and softening toward the pale centre, where the glow pools like a mist. The circular format makes the question feel like an orbit or a ring of light, an invitation encircling whoever stands before it, and the handwritten style keeps it personal: less a slogan than a hand extended. A styled interior photograph showing Do You Want To Change The World With Me? (Pink), the circular neon artwork by British artist Lauren Baker, hung on a deep aubergine-grey wall. The round panel glows warm pink, its white neon script curving around the edge so the question encircles the soft pool of light at its centre. Below it sits a mustard-yellow swivel armchair on a black star base, with a tall textured vase of dried branches to the left and a round woven rug on the stone floor. The shot shows the piece as a room's warm heart: the circular glow reading like a rising moon or a porthole of light against the dark wall, the chair beneath it placed as if for someone accepting the invitation in the title. The angle reveals the panel as a solid disc, its depth and edge visible along the left, and the whole surface saturated in deep magenta-pink light, darker and more intense at the centre than the frontal view. The white neon script 'Do you want to change the world with me?' runs around the rim, each word standing off the panel on small mounts, the tubes' fixings visible between the letters. At this angle the glow reads richest, a deep fuchsia disc like a full moon lit from within, the question orbiting its edge in light. The question, at scale. This is the extra-large rendering of Baker's most direct public work: the words Do You Want To Change The World With Me? bent in white neon script and arranged around the circumference of a two-metre Perspex circle, the sentence orbiting the panel's edge so that reading it is itself a small act of circling the invitation. At this diameter the piece stops being a wall work and becomes architecture: a moon-sized question, a porthole of light, something closer to her public installations than to a domestic neon. The intention is the artist's own: the artwork poses a question, it's an invitation, and it is intended to activate your soul's higher purpose for the greater good. The work was born in public space, commissioned for Kensington and Chelsea Art Week and installed at Duke of York Square, then shown in Connaught Village as part of the public light trail that carried her messages through Westminster ahead of the Cop 26 climate conference, a direct question posed to strangers in the street. White, rather than the pink of the smaller editions, strips the question of sentimentality: it reads as pure invitation, cooler and more monumental, the colour of starlight rather than affection. As a unique piece rather than an edition, it stands as the singular, definitive statement of the work's idea, the question asked once, at the largest scale the artist has given it. White neon mounted on Perspex, diameter 200 cm, unique. £18,500.
