electronic music and club scene of the 1990’s using the iconography of the DJ
Andy Weatherall as the totemic anchor point for both the composition and
subject reference … an artistic and cultural compass of the 90’s club
scene. From the mixes and production for
the era defining Screamadelica by Primal scream to the club scene of the
Hacienda and Shoom. The visual journey through this period is wholly personal,
blending and juxtaposing the obscure with the iconic mainstream … from subtly
hidden references to DJ Shadow, Leftfield and Two Lone Swordsmen to the more
recognisable face of The Streets and Massive Attack. A melting pot of references
and ephemera which proudly defined the sound of a generation.
