"This one-of-a-kind piece builds on earlier map dot works and striped panel paintings. Using original vintage maps of England, Scotland, and Wales – including detailed geological and rainfall editions. Each map bonded onto birch ply and precision laser-cut them into narrow strips. I then arranged them into interesting formations to create a flowing, 3D collage that I think shows the movement and complexity of the landscapes. The result I think encourages a more abstract, textural reading of traditional cartography."
