Spider-Man crouches mid-swing against a vivid
orange field, one hand shooting a web line, with blurred multiples of himself
echoing behind him to suggest motion, all rendered in Mellia's airbrushed
super-realism. The yellow border, "Marvel Comic Group" top banner,
corner box with a Spider-Man thumbnail and "Edition of 15" panel
complete the vintage cover staging.

The masthead is a clever double pun. "Mellia
Tales" riffs on Marvel Tales, a real long-running Marvel series published
from 1966 to 1994 that was primarily devoted to reprinting classic Spider-Man
stories, later retitled "Marvel Tales Starring Spider-Man" . So
swapping Mellia into that specific masthead is a knowing touch: the original
title was itself the Spider-Man reprint home.

The cover copy carries the collection's running joke.
"The Spider or the Man" in a jagged starburst is pure classic-cover
teaser language. "Spidey Gets Mellia His Sight Back!" continues the
fourth-wall gag from the Hulk and Silver Surfer pieces, where the hero
interacts with the artist rather than fighting a villain. It also has a
personal undertone: Mellia, who is dyslexic, has said he drew comic characters
from age four because "I couldn't read the stories because the words were
jumping around, so it didn't tell me the story. I wanted to draw it to make it look
more real to me" . Comics literally gave him a way of seeing the stories,
which makes the blurb affectionate rather than just silly.

The character's history. Spider-Man first appeared in
Amazing Fantasy #15, cover-dated August 1962, written by Stan Lee and drawn by
Steve Ditko . Teenager Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider at a
science exhibition, gained arachnid abilities, and after tragedy struck,
committed to the mantra "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility"
. He was a deliberate departure from sidekick-era teen heroes: a teenager who
wasn't a sidekick, with everyman doubts and money problems, which is exactly
why the character became Marvel's defining figure.
