The architectural form in this piece is inherently brutalist, conveying eastern European post-war architecture - when concrete was predominant in construction.
All of my work from this series feature geometric shapes as an indication of man-made structures (the temporary marks we leave on the landscape) interacting with the fluid, organic backdrop of abstracted landforms.
The structure is based on post-war brutalist structures which defined a new era of functional redevelopment.
The architectural form initially appears dominant, but closer inspection reveals the landform resisting the challenge of civilisation where man-made structures compete with the landscape – nature versus structure.
