Lucie Bennett Artist Biography

Education and Artistic Foundations

Lucie Bennett is a London-based British artist who studied at Manchester Metropolitan University (BA Interactive Arts, 1997), as well as L’École Régionale des Beaux-Arts de Nantes and Wimbledon School of Art. Emerging in the early 2000s, she is predominantly recognised as a painter, favouring gloss paint on prepared aluminium, though her practice spans neon, collage, latex, laser-cut acrylic, screen-print, and ceramics

Exploring Female Identity Through Line and Colour

Bennett’s oeuvre centres on the female body, exploring notions of identity and sexuality through pared-down line work, block colour, and abstract forms that blend human, organic, and botanical imagery. Her bold line drawings are brought to life with striking palettes—hot pinks, oranges, and blues for vibrancy, and muted tones for elegance—creating timeless, provocative portraits with contemporary flair.

Mediums, Editions and Distinctive Technique

First releasing original screen prints in 2005, Bennett has since built a widely collected body of limited-edition silkscreen prints, works on paper, paintings, and more recently, ceramics paired with 2D work. Her signature use of industrial surfaces—metal lacquered with glossy paint—adds a sensual contrast to the fluidity of her forms, creating a compelling juxtaposition of materiality.

Exhibitions, Collections, and Recognition

With exhibitions spanning London, New York, San Francisco, Miami, Hong Kong, and Singapore since 2001, Bennett’s work is held in prominent collections, including the Groucho Club, The Allbright, and Virgin Group. Her art has featured on TV programmes like The Apprentice, The Culture Show, and even in a French feature film. Her bold line style and compelling colour use continue to attract global collectors and art institutions alike.
