the works I had around me. 'Blackout' combines disparate images and
characters that combine to create hidden narratives and scenarios. As I did
with 'Klaatu' I began adding further visual information that would
encourage the viewer to examine the piece closer and contemplate for longer. Arrows
and circles now 'annotate' the work, characters become kings with crowns and
previously drab skulls get a before/after make-over of Mexican wrestling masks." - Simon Kirk
