Following the release of his ‘Full Moon’ series in January 2021, Dan Baldwin has created a further seven original one-off works in a sister series of monotypes which sees the artist create unique paintings that form the backdrops to a single screen printed image.
In contrast to the previous series, where Dan took a comparatively abstract approach with his mark making, the New Moons exhibit a more controlled technique. Colours used in the background compositions of these most recent works are specifically placed to line up with the elements of the screen printed image, resulting in the appearance of perhaps a more thought-out process applied during their making.
