The Body Map series explores the historical relationship
between human anatomy and city structure. Cities are often seen as superorganisms
or living bodies and in this series merging human form and city maps creates a
metaphorical template
for our environmental existence treating the city as a living entity which we inhabit
and sustain.
The
artwork is created layering an abstract photograph of the human form and
vintage city maps which are printed onto gold leaf.
