Gavin Mitchell is a contemporary artist whose work is an exploration of the "East vs West" concept, often using juxtapositions or comparisons of distinctly Western and Eastern aesthetics.
In "Blondie Platinum", Mitchell portrays his model with found images of the 1940s American comic "Blondie" alongside its Japanese Manga adaptation.
Mitchell engages with a diverse range of media allowing him to create multi-layered works and three-dimensionality. In this piece, a photograph on a layer of acrylic is set apart from a silver leaf backdrop, presented in a signature box-frame.
