A Cloudy Modernist morning began with me researching modernist architecture which lead me to Miami Beach houses. My work always begins with drawing, and I usually begin drawing either a character or an environment. This time I began with these glorious, sharply designed beach houses, with energetic angles and private pools. I added the characters once the environments were believable. The woman stepping into the pool in modernist morning is from an old movie star annual from the fifties. By combining different elements I hope to produce a new narrative with a surprising or humorous twist". - Anna Marrow
