"Miami Poolside began with me researching modernist architecture which
lead me to Miami Beach houses. My work always begins with drawing, and I
usually begin drawing either a character or an environment. This time I began
with these glorious, sharply designed beach houses, with energetic angles and
private pools. I added the characters once the environments were believable,
the ladies in Miami Poolside were from an old photography magazine I got at a
cat boot sale. By combining different elements I hope
to produce a new narrative with a surprising or humorous twist." - Anna Marrow
