"London has always been one of the world’s greatest
musical cities, a true innovator and at the epicentre of the UK music scene …
London Talking celebrates the music and bands which have their roots firmly
embedded in the streets of the city. From Bowie's Brixton beginnings to The
Clash, Blur and The Jam, the legacy and inspiration of the capital on artists
and bands spans the decades. The 1960’s introduced The Stones, Pink Floyd and
the Kinks and the seventies heralded the arrival of Bowie and The Clash. Each
decade celebrates its own musical revolution and London Talking is a graphic
fusion of the iconography and symbolism which is such a crucial part of band
identity. Blending hand cut collage with acrylic and spray paints, the
reinterpretation of the music ephemera seeks to create its own new narrative,
creating new graphical juxtapositions out of the recognisable icons." - Steve Rawlings
