"Dawn Chorus was
inspired by an early morning walk with my dogs to the Darlands Nature reserve
in North London. The light through the woodland echoed by bird song was my
starting point for this painting. As part of my process I photograph and
records sounds which I take back into my studio and use as a reference to begin
a painting. This is a very abstract landscape and the painting, over the time
it takes to make, is less about the initial viewpoint and more about my
emotional response to the starting place." - Nicole Rose
