"Commemoration was made in my studio in 2023
following one of my daily walks in my local nature reserve. I'm interested in
the minutiae of a walk, the way a path might curve or the way the light shines
through the trees. Back in the studio when I paint, I use the views from the
walk as a starting point, I recollect where I have been, how it made me feel
and my paintings take on the space that is between the reality and my
daydreams. A remembrance of the place rather than a painting of
the place itself. I hope the viewer can get absorbed into the depth of the
painting and draw their own emotions from the piece." - Nicole Rose, artist.
