Mister  Artist Biography

Mister is a British artist, born in 1963 Kidderminster and now based in London. He studied Fine Art Painting at Wolverhampton University. Mister then went on to teach, he often draws inspiration from his extensive experience in teaching Art and as a classroom practitioner, as well as his pastoral role for the welfare of others. Mister left teaching in 2018 to pursue his own career as an artist.

Mister creates mixed-media art forms. He primarily works from a sketchbook or laptop, using paint and collage techniques. Each artwork he creates exists within a limited collection of pieces. Each work will vary in appearance due to the hand-finishing. Many of Mister’s editions are mixed media digital prints, hand finished with acrylic and often gold dust or diamond dust, creating a beautifully textured piece. Mister’s originals are something of a spectacle, a mixed media graphite drawing with gold dust to produce a rare and impressive display of complimentary colours and textures, in the form of a large-scale portrait. The process of Mister’s creations owes much to chance, improvisation, and openness to outside source material. His current limited-edition prints are produced in Printscpace, Shoreditch. The prints are then hand-painted with acrylic and then embellished with gold-leafing and diamond dust. Mister enjoys creating large scale, original drawings, as it allows him to explore technical aspects and discipline to drawing, moreover enabling him to develop his ideas in detail, depth and scale.

His inspiration comes from the history of Art, storytelling, and images of strong female figures, and in exploring the boundaries of gender and cultural identity. In expressing colour and narrative, he carefully crafts and weaves together images to produce a striking visual mixed media art form. Mister is currently interested in themes of guardianship, and the strength which can be developed and promoted within others.

"Currently I am interested in themes of diversity and inclusion and in creating a culture of harmony reflecting London as a modern Babylon. Ever present is my extensive experience as a teacher of Art, as well as my pastoral role for the welfare of others. I am testimony to my belief in lifelong learning, and in continuing to develop and thrive in this ever-changing world." - Mister.
