This portrait uses a fresco type texture to create layers of time. The heart symbolises the fire and energy within the woman. She is painted as a mouse, maybe seen as a quiet females, but full of energy, vigour and inspiration. She is unstoppable and determined. Nature is incorporated to symbolise both growth and time. I have often worked with vintage wallpapers and a favourite has been the Willow Borough by William Morris. This inspired the leaf painting which has crept across to cover one side of her. Nature will eventually cover us all in time but until that time we can use our inner fire with a passion.
