"This female portrait uses patterns to express adornment and enhancement. Antique papers are used within the piece to investigate time, aging and beauty. This piece includes more pattern and geometric shapes pushing the boundaries of minimalism, asking the question ‘how far can we adorn and decorate?’ The use of Antique stamps are everyday objects from the past, most are franked so have been used on letters and postcards. I love that they have travelled from times before yet sit happily within a contemporary artwork." Roo Abrook

Roo Abrook’s painted collages on wooden panels combine
acrylic paints, digital prints, spray paints and gold leaf with striking layers
of history. The works often integrate original Victorian photography and vintage
magazine advertising, reimagined through bold colour and contemporary collage
techniques. This fusion of vintage imagery and modern materials creates a
distinctive artwork that bridges past and present in a unique, collectible
style.
